Porsche vehicles may soon be able to run separate Google apps.

Porsche is in talks with Google to make Google's apps and services available on its in-car entertainment system, a source close to the firm has said. By doing so, it would be possible to use practical apps like Maps without needing to connect a smartphone to the vehicle.

Porsche is also in discussions with other businesses about integrating their software products, including Apple, Tencent, Alibaba, and Baidu. After Porsche cut ties with Volkswagen's Cariad software research division, this is a risky move.

This is also a 180-degree shift for Porsche, whose CEO had earlier declared that the automaker will not provide independent Google apps since the search engine behemoth needs access to excessive amounts of customer data. Other automakers, like BMW, are leery of Google and hesitant to grant access to the built-in infotainment systems in their vehicles.

If this is approved, you may anticipate native Google Assistant, Google Maps, and possibly some other corporate products in Porsche cars, greatly enhancing the native user experience of those vehicles.
