With the unveiling of its sport utility vehicle (SUV), which is still unnamed, Aehra, a young electric car company based in Italy, has recently garnered significant attention. But since the vehicle's exterior was just shown, it is now time to have a look inside this five-seat crossover with its peculiar doors.
It's true, as you probably already suspected, that the interior is much more bizarre. When the dual butterfly/gullwing doors are propped open, the one display that spans the whole width of the dashboard is incredibly difficult to miss. You shouldn't be concerned about it, despite the fact that it occupies an alarmingly big amount of the space in front of the windshield.
This huge screen has two settings since it performs two functions. While driving, the majority of it is concealed behind the dashboard, with only the top half being visible. The digital instruments and navigational data are shown in this upper section.
The screen can be enlarged while the car is parked to transform it into what is essentially a big mobile office monitor or a home theater system on wheels. Or perhaps a portable meeting room. It's vital to remember that there are other screens on the dashboard as well.
Below the primary touchscreen, a smaller touchscreen manages the entertainment features. This is in addition to the instrument panel on the steering wheel's rim. It resembles a Tesla with a yoke in place of the steering wheel, despite Aehra's claims that it is a tribute to both racing vehicles and aircraft. On the top yoke rim, a second, tiny screen that shows basic driving data like speed and range can be attached thanks to the design.
Both the driver and the passengers have plenty of legroom thanks to the SUV's long wheelbase and very modest overhangs. Thanks to the EV platform, the floor is completely flat, allowing passengers in the back seat to sprawl out and unwind, which is quite practical for lengthy travels. Depending on the customer's preference, Aehra will offer either four or five seats for the SUV.
There is no information available regarding things like the amount of headroom, the size of the screen, or the amount of cargo capacity. After suppliers and contractors for the various components have been verified, an Aehra spokeswoman stated that work on a prototype will begin.
This is anticipated to happen at the start of the second quarter of 2023. The startup business states that it has received "substantial private money" in the interim.
If everything goes according to schedule, Aehra will unveil the concept for its second vehicle, a sedan, in February 2023. The customer deliveries are then projected to happen in 2025.
